Great little camera. I purched Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Canon SD990IS camera so I dont have to take my Canon 20d on all my trips. Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP little camera works great. The 3200 setting for indoors or out side at night is great, also the macro is great.It is small and easy to travel with.
Excellent small camera for everyone. I upgraded from the SD700IS to the new SD990IS after reading all the specs and reviews. Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP exceeds all my expectations and offers significant improvements. The camera slips easily into my front pocket, always ready to capture those unexpected scenes. The new zoom range and macro capabilities are especially appreciated. I highly recommend this camera for everyone.
Nice camera. I have to admit this has to be the best point and shot camera I've owned. I just got Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP less than 24 hours ago and am impressed with the picture quality.
The quality of the screen and lens and the general build itself is good, but Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP does look cheap in the control area. Luckily, after ordering the camera and before getting Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP in the mail, I had a chance to "touch and feel" the camera at a local costco warehouse (just happen to see Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP while shopping). I was a bit disappointed at the time due to the plasticy feel of the controls and the overall body, but when I actually got the unit last night Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP wasn't so bad (perhaps because Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP was in a brand spanking new box and that changes the perception of the grubby one I examined at costco).
The picture and video quality is better than my previous camera - a 7.2 Casio Exilim EXZ70. Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP was difficult to get sharp and infocus pictures with the Exilim, especially in moderate and low light conditions.
Alot of people have mentioned being impressed with the digital zoom of the sd990is. I tried Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP out and took a picture. Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP didn't look that impressive after viewing Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP before taking the picture in the viewfinder. After taking and reviewing the subject, Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP looked alot better - Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP seems the camera cleans Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP up and smoothes out the edges thanks to it's new video processor logic. So I also am impressed with the digital zoom.
I'll be going to a holiday party for work tonight and will be bringing this camera. After tonight I will have a better idea how this camera really performs. There will be alot of low to moderate lighting scenes and that will test out the focusing and picture quality of the pics in those conditions.

PS. I wanted a black sd990is, but got the silver one at another vendor due to price (they didn't have black, because of their price/promotion, I went for the silver one). I still regret not getting the black.... but I'll live.
