How To Sing Higher Notes

The ability to sing high notes and increasing the vocal range is an aspiration of most singers. However, most singers find it very difficult to increase their vocal range so that they can hit and sustain those high notes effortlessly and effectively.

So how can you own a powerful singing voice and hit those high notes without straining your vocal cords or even damaging them?

Although expanding your vocal range is an illusive issue, the good news is that it is not all that difficult. Once you understand it, you will be surprised that it can be so simple after all.

Now, for the bad news, it is somewhat like learning how to swim. You cannot possibly learn to swim by reading an article or even a zillion articles without getting into the pool and start practicing your swimming strokes. The problem is that many singers are doing just that when learning how to sing.

It is the same when you want to increase your vocal range to hit those high notes. You can possibly learn the theory from an article such as this one, but would be most unlikely that you can master the skill because it involves the coordination of muscles moving and correct breathing techniques when you are singing.

The precise coordination of these singing muscles and breathing techniques can only be learnt by listening and repeating vocal exercises and then in actual singing.

People will think that you are crazy crazy if you go around asking, "Can you provide me with some helpful tips on becoming a proficient surgeon in time for a open heart operation next week?", but no one will give you a second look when you ask "Give me some singing tips on how to sing high notes."

Having said that the correct vocal exercises are crucial for you to expand your vocal range, here are some singing tips for you to sing the high notes.

In order to increase your singing vocal range, you must learn to get the wrong muscles out of the way, so try this experiment.

Begin by gently placing your hand over your throat so that your chin is cradled between your thumb and your forefinger. Pretend that you are trying to hide your throat from view but just barely touching it so that you can feel its movement.

Once your hands are in place, just swallow. Can you feel things moving inside your throat? Of course you do. What just happened is that more than 30 muscle groups working just to ensure that you swallow properly!

These muscle movements are to make sure food goes down your gullet and not into your windpipe. They are also designed to work for about as long as a swallow lasts, then they go back to their original position.

Unfortunately, these muscles are also activated when you are singing and especially so when you are singing the higher notes.

I said "unfortunately" because the muscles actually do nothing to help you to sing higher notes but are using up energy and increasing the tension around the muscles that are needed for you to sing higher.

Do remember that the swallowing muscles are designed to work for just a second or two when you swallow and they then go back to their original position, but when you begin to sing, you are more likely to feel them engaged and stay engaged until they wear the singer out. Therefore the singer must educate the actual singing muscles not to over-exert themselves when singing higher and higher notes.

Your most natural sounding voice is the voice you use when you are speaking. When you sing in a "normal" tone, you will start in this voice. It very likely is your "chest" voice. It is called "chest voice" because most of the resonating or vibrating to create sound is happening in your chest.

In your most natural sounding voice, you have learnt to make a nice, strong sound by letting the tone vibrate mostly in your chest. You didn't even need think about it and that is why it is natural. It is a very open, rich and full sound. It sounds "firm" and not "mushy" at all.

Your little tiny noise-making muscles which are your vocal cords are generally vibrating along their entire length when you are singing in your chest voice. Your vocal cords are amazing muscles. They perform tricks and some of those tricks are used to easily take your voice over three or even more octaves.

Your vocal cords change the notes along the bottom of your range by contracting. The tighter they contract, the higher the rate of vibration as air passes between them from your lungs.

Just like any muscles, they will reach a limit as to how tight they can contract without injuring themselves. At that critical point, they will do one of these two things:-

a) They protect themselves while maintaining their ability to sing higher than that critical point by suddenly dumping tension by swinging apart slightly, and producing an airy false voice usually referred to as the falsetto voice. I called the falsetto "false" because it sounds so unlike that rich chest tone you were producing just a few notes lower. Get the picture?

When your singing voice goes into a falsetto, you will experience a physical relief since you went from a high tension state to almost no tension at all. Your singing will go from struggling for the next note to easily reaching the next higher note.

However, you will probably not be comfortable with the fact that your voice tone changed so drastically and losing the power in your singing. It is really an emotional a let-down. It makes you feel like writing emails to people asking "How can I sing higher notes?".

If you are properly trained, your vocal cords will do the next two tricks and can easily shift into the next gear rather than flip into a falsetto voice when singing higher notes.

Your vocal cords will begin to thin out as you go higher and changing their mass so that they vibrate at a higher rate of vibration and therefore they do not to tighten more. It is just like changing to a thinner guitar string but keeping the tension exactly the same.

So your voice is unlike going into a falsetto as they don't pull apart so that the tone produced will still have that firm sound rather than that airy false sound.

You will eventually enter into what is called the "head voice" because the resonance moves from your chest cavity to the cavities in your head and face.

If you are practicing with the correct vocal exercises, your body will learn to fade more resonance into the head cavities and out of the chest cavity producing what is called a "mixed voice". When you listen to a singer who has a wide, powerful voice range, this is exactly what that singer is doing.

Once your vocal cords have taken you as high as they can go by thinning out, they will actually close off a portion of their length which is not unlike fretting a guitar string. This will result in even higher notes like the whistle tones of Mariah Carey because the length of the vibrating surface has been shortened.

So do you want to be able to sing high notes effectively ? Don't let anyone tell that you can't.

How To Sing From The Diaphragm

You must have heard people saying "Sing from your diaphragm", but what exactly do they mean? How can your diaphragm sing? What they actually mean is to use your diaphragm to control your singing breath.

Well, you must actually practice with good vocal exercises to perfect your singing breath. Singing from the diaphragm is a complex muscle/breath co-ordination that many singing teachers find it difficult to their students in words effectively. That is why there is so much confusion on this topic.

Just to give you an idea of how your diaphragm works when you are breathing, try this breathing exercise. Stand up straight with a relaxed posture, and then take a big yawn - Ahhhhhh! While you are taking that big yawn, notice how your tummy expands outwards? That is the diaphragm at work, pushing out your tummy so that your lungs can drop lower so that you can take in more air.

Now the diaphragm muscle is also used for the control of airflow by sending the correct amount of air to the vocal cords. As you sing the higher notes, less air is required for the vocal cords. By sending the correct amount of air, your voice quality will be stable and relaxed and the overall singing voice will sound so much better.

However, you need to practice with the correct vocal exercises until "singing from the diaphragm" is an ingrained habit so that you don't even have to think of it when you are singing because you are automatically using this singing technique. You don't even need to remember how much air to release to your diaphragm because you will be releasing just the right amount of air naturally.

Contrary to popular belief, you do not need breathing exercises for singing to strengthen your diaphragm! The muscles in your diaphragm are already strong enough already as it is. This is because your vocal cords are very small and delicate muscles and thus do not require too much support.

Since this is an article, it is not possible to show you the vocal exercises breathing technique demonstrations. However you can get a feel of it by experimenting with this exercise.

Now put your palms lightly on your tummy. Take in a deep long breath. As you are breathing in, extend your tummy outward and sideways as the air comes in. When you breathe out, pursed your lips together to release a controlled stream of air and at the same time, with your tummy becoming smaller and back to its natural state as air is being released. Now this is how you will feel when you are singing from the diaphragm.

How To String A Classical Guitar

When changing the strings on a classical guitar it is best to change one string at a time. It is not good for the neck of the guitar to have a sudden release of tension and then to have it applied forcefully later. This can lead to distortion of the neck and permanent damage.

As well as this, never tune the string more than a tone above its normal pitch. You can tune it a little sharp (for example, one semitone above normal concert pitch) as this can make the guitar a little 'brighter' to play. Tune it any higher and you risk breakage.

Never put steel strings on a classical guitar. It is not constructed to take this exertion and it is easily damaged (the neck can break away from the body).

To string the guitar: - Unwind the old string until the tension is completely released and the string is quite floppy - Unthread the string from the Capstan in the Headstock - Next untie if from the bridge and discard it

You're now ready to string the guitar: - Start by slipping the string through the corresponding hole in the bridge from the sound hole end - Leave approximately 1ฝ inches of the string sticking out past the back of the bridge - Pull the extra string length towards the sound hole and loop it around the string where it originally entered the bridge - Loop the string under and over itself on top of the bridge twice. This forms a figure 8.

- Pull the string tightly away from the sound hole and attach it to the tuning peg as shown below

- Loop the string at the peg head and then twist it around itself before tightening the peg

- Continue to restring the other strings one by one using the above method

After all the strings are restrung, start to tune the strings by starting with the first E treble string. Use the tuning fork to get the A note on the 5th fret. You can tune the other strings from this.

There is another way of securing the string to the bridge. This is called the Letter D method.. This is usually used only for the 4th, 5th and 6th strings and is done as follows: - Start as you would with the figure 8 by passing the string through the bridge at the sound hole and leaving 1ฝ inches sticking out - Bring the extra string length back and loop around itself then under and over itself ONCE at the very back of the bridge forming the letter D

Supposedly, the figure 8 is better since it has more holding power.

Some things to take note of while restringing and tuning: - Nylon strings, especially trebles, are very stretchy. On the first day they will seem to be never in tune but will stabilize the next day - Don't stretch the strings when restringing since this make them develop thin areas. Uneven strings do not play in tune - Most intonation problems are due to uneven strings - Experiment to find the string that sounds best

Remember to take your time when first restringing a guitar. Take care that you learn the correct method. There will be less slippage and breakage or tuning problems if you learn in this way.

When you first put on new strings play all the semitones, fret by fret, along the string length and then retune the guitar. This will allow the strings to stretch more quickly and settle down and stay in tune.

There are a lot of classical guitar strings on the market. It pays to experiment until you find the one that is right for you

Restringing a guitar can be a bit daunting at first. Approach the task slowly and take time to learn the correct methods.

How To Set Up A Halloween Party For Adults

Are you planning on hosting a Halloween party? If you are, then ask yourself if you know what kind of party it's going to be. You might consider throwing a Halloween party for adults. It's easy to plan, and a fun way to spend some quality time with your friends and family. In fact, it's easier to plan a Halloween party aimed at adults than it is to set one up for kids, or for people of all ages. That said, there is a quite a bit of preparation and planning involved, and you'll have to start early. The sooner you do, the sooner you can begin the festivities and enjoy yourself.

Invitations are an important thing, as with any other party.. You should probably even invite people before you begin planning the rest of the party. Holiday seasons are always busy, and you'll want to give people breathing space by making the invitations early, ideally a month beforehand. Make clear on your invitations that your party is for adults, as your guests may well end up bringing their kids otherwise.

Once the invitations, or at a minimum, your guest list, has been taken care of, you should begin arranging the rest. First of all, figure out what kinds of refreshments you'll be offering. Naturally, since you'll be catering to adults, you should have a well-stocked bar. It's not obligatory to have alcohol at a Halloween party, of course, but it's nice to have it on hand for those who want. Think also about what kind of other food and drink you'll need. Will you serve dinner at your party? If you don't plan to, then get a good assortment of snacks.

Games aren't just for kids. It's also lots of fun for adults to play party games. They're a great way to keep your guests entertained. You can find a good variety of games geared towards adults online by doing a simple search. You can also go to your local retail store. The games don't necessarily have to relate to Halloween. Just choose something fun.

Decide also where exactly your party will be held in your home. It's pretty common for people to throw parties that will extend into several rooms, but it's ultimately your call. It's possible to have one in the dining room, living room, kitchen, rec room, den, and so on. It depends on how big your party will be and what you have planned. As well as cleaning and beautifying the rooms you'll be using, you should figure out what kinds of decorations you'll be using to contribute to your Halloween theme. There's no point having a Halloween party without throwing in some scary-looking decorations, after all. They will really fill the air with a holiday spirit and give your party character.

Hosting a Halloween party for adults is a major undertaking, but it will be lots of fun to plan. If you start out early, get everything set up right, and make sure your family and friends are able to come, you can be sure your party will be a success before it even begins..

How To Sell Your Crafts

The cash register rings, and the person across the counter from you smiles as they take the bag you're handing them. As they walk away beaming with excitement, they're chattering with their friend that this is exactly what they were looking for, but just haven't been able to find.

You're beaming with that deep sense of satisfaction that comes from knowing someone else just walked away with one of your crafts, with a big smile on their face. You're reminded again that starting your own craft business was one of the best things you ever did.

For years people were telling you that your crafts were wonderful, and you should sell them. They told you that you had a real gift and that you should share it through your own craft business. Turns out they were right, and you're sure glad you listened to them. Now you're doing what you love, and making money at it.

As you read the above paragraphs, do you have that sense of longing to have your own craft business? Do you want to be the one hearing the cash register ring and watch people walking away with your crafts smiling as they go?

The difficult part can be just knowing how to get started. How do you go from the idea, to actually selling those crafts. While I can't cover everything in this article, I can give you some basics as to how to get started.

Decide On A Craft To Sell

One of the first things you need to do is come up with an idea of a craft to sell. If you don't already have an idea, there are lots of things you can do to get an idea. Here are just a couple of ideas.

* Solve an everyday problem - Look around you and see what it is around you that's a problem, and come up with a solution for it. It doesn't have to be complex, just something simple. For example, at our house, we always have tons of pens everywhere. You could come up with a great idea for a nice looking pen holder. There are lots of everyday things like this that can give you ideas.

* Improve on an existing product - Look at at a product you already own, and do a variation of it. Take the idea of a paper towel rack. You could make really fancy paper towel racks and sell them. Maybe make a set of kitchen items centered around a theme. Paper towel rack, napkin holder, salt and pepper shaker holder. This would be improving on something that already exists.

Decide On The Price Of Your Craft

Something else you will need to do is price your craft. This is where a lot of people make a mistake. They don't consider all of the expenses really involved in producing a craft. You need to consider not only the cost of the supplies, but also the cost of being in the show, gas, and lodging if you are staying away from home. Make sure that you take into consideration all of your costs when coming up with a price.

You also need to determine how much you want to pay yourself an hour. You certainly have to be realistic, but you don't want to short yourself either. You really do need to get paid.

When you come up with a price that you think is realistic, compare it to other products that are similar to see if you are in the ballpark. Also, ask friends and family for honest feedback. This can be a great way to get an idea if your price is likely to work.

Decide Where To Sell Your Craft

Third, you are going to need to decide on where you will sell your crafts. You need to consider the types of crafts you are selling, and fit them to specific shows. If you are selling items that don't fit into the show, you may spend money for space, and end up not selling anything.

There are lots of smaller shows that you can get started with, in order to keep the costs down. This will also enable you to test your products and prices without too much investment.

There are lots of websites that will help you locate craft shows. Just type craft shows into Google to find some of these sites.

You can also check with schools, churches and farmers markets to find more possibilities to sell your products.

Once you get rolling you will have more ideas than you can follow.

How To Select And Build Your Own Model Ship

Model ship building is a hobby for all age groups. Men and women alike can spend endless hours carefully assembling each piece. At times, all that one has to build with is a photograph or a two dimensional drawing. Every moment requires a steady hand and plenty of patience.

Here are a few tips to consider when selecting and building a model ship:

1. Pick up a good book: Education is a key element to anything we wish to accomplish in life including the successful construction of a model ship. Books like The Ship Model Builder's Assistant by Charles G. Davis or Building Warship Models by P.C. Coker are excellent resources to learning ship modeling techniques.

2. Decide on what style first: There are several models to select from. For instance warships, sailing ships, battleships, ocean liners, tug boats, etc. Then there are the materials you'll be using: wood or plastic.

3. Check out building kits for beginners: It is best to begin with a beginner's model kit. Don't jump right in and try to build the HMS Victory. You'll spend a lot of money, encounter a lot of frustration and very likely make so many "newbie" mistakes by the end that the model will be noticably flawed. Instead, choose a shio that is small and simple. You'll be surprised how much there is to learn even building something as simple as a Viking Longboat.

4. Read the instructions: Visit a hobby shop in your neighborhood where the store manager doesn't mind an occasional "newbie" model ship builder thumbing thru his model ship kits. Read the instructions in the kit and don't be afraid to ask questions.

5. Build from a kit: Beginners should always start with a kit. Most people build the hull first and then sub assemble parts like the ship's boats, carriages, and anchor. Assembling small pieces first will give you some sense of accomplishment.

The only way to truly become an expert on selecting and building model ships in a way that suits your skills, talents, taste and personality is through trial and error. Everything can be carefully planned, each piece strategically placed, sub assembles done, and still there is no guarantee that your first or second model ship will be a success. However, the quality of your work will improve with each model ship you build, so start off small and stay focused remembering the end result is a breath-taking model ship.

How To Select An Art Piece In An Art Auction

Nowadays, there are many art auction houses available online such as sotheby and ebay. However, before attempting to bid for a fine art auction, there are some points you need to take note especially if you are a beginner to art auctions.

If you are new to fine art auctions, you might first decide what it is you like to collect. Is it abstract art, oil-based painting, impression art etc?

You also might want to read up on the art category that you prefer to buy. Take for example, you are into abstract art. It would help you in your art auctions if you knew more about abstract art history, the various abstract art movements. The best way to start would be on the internet. One such site is www.artsconnected.org. They provide comprehensive search tools for visitors to research on their favorite art category.

The other way is to browse the various art magazines, books, periodicals. You could go to your local bookstore, amazon or even the local library. Visit a few fine art auction houses and get a feel for the type of art you are interested in. Art Auction houses will usually provide detailed information on the art piece being auctioned.

How Do I Know The Art Piece I Like Is Real?

Ok, so you finally found an art piece you like. The next question you are probably asking is how do I know it is authentic? Since the value of an art piece is subjective depending on the person looking at it, it would be best if you can afford it to get a professional art appraiser to value the art piece.

For large fine art auction houses such as sotheby, you can be assured that the art piece is already appraised and is authentic. However, if you are looking for an art piece at smaller auction houses or online art auctions such as ebay, you do need to be extra careful. Particularly so for online art auctions where there are many fake art pieces being auctioned.

If you like a fine art being auctioned online, the best way if possible would be to communicate with the art seller before buying. Online art auctions usually keep a track record of the art seller's sales history and can help you to determine whether the seller is a reputable person.

How To Scrapbook For More Than One Child

Scrapbooking can be a delightful way to corral those family photos and memories into an exciting book. Scrapbooking can be relaxing for you as you do it, and a pleasure as you share it.

Books and articles on scrapbooking for 1 child abound, but suppose you have more than 1 child. Suppose you have 7 children. Then you need a book or article on how to scrapbook for more than 1 child.

You Have Scrapbooking Options

Those who want to scrapbook for more than 1 child have several exciting options.

1. Make a full-blown scrapbook for each. If you have many photos and memories to preserve, this allows the most space for each child. Your scrapbooking will require more time and money, but will be a labor of love.

The book's theme will focus on that one child. Place his or her photo and name on the front, and theme every scrapbooking page to that child's life.

You will use family photos, of course, to show the place the child held in family activities. But you will want pages that focus solely on that child: baby "firsts"; first year of school; favorite hobbies; favorite toys; dreams; birthdays; awards; graduation; etc. If a photo shows two of the children together, focus your journaling on that one child's part in the photo. How did the world look from his eyes or her eyes? Our memories are always, I have found, as seen through our eyes. Do mention the second child, but spotlight the first.

As each child becomes able, he or she can help add new pages to his or her scrapbook. Scrapbooking can be a time of bonding and love that will long be remembered.

When they leave home as young adults, they can take their individual scrapbooks with them. As they mature, they will come to realize what it meant in time, effort, and cost for you to provide these treasured scrapbooking memories.

2. Make a mini scrapbook for each. If you have fewer photos, want to be more selective, or simply have very little time for scrapbooking, a mini scrapbook will still provide individual, tangible memories that can be carried into adult life.

Select just one theme for each double-page spread, with one or two photos on each. Tie the photos together with your theme, mounting them on the same color of torn paper or using identical frames.
Mini scrapbooking will not allow for as many family or sibling photos, but remember that this is a book about one child. When you make a mini scrapbook for each child, you can rest assured that each will get full attention. There will be no "left-out" feelings.

A mini scrapbook can be no larger than 6" x 6". Or it can be half the size of a standard letter: 5.5" x 8.5". You can read details about how to make your own mini scrapbooks in my article entitled, "How to do Mini Scrapbooks".

Digital mini scrapbooks would be interesting for children, since they live in a computerized world. Digital mini scrapbooks can be less expensive to make, and people who are comfortable with one of the computer graphics programs, such as "Adobe PhotoShop", will be able to apply interesting effects that are not possible with conventional scrapbooking.

3. Make a family scrapbook for each. A third way to scrapbook for more than one child is to make a family scrapbook for each. Less attention will be paid to individual children, in such a book, and focus placed on the entire family unit.

Your scrapbooking theme is your entire family, including every family member. Place the family name on the cover, and a nice family photo, if you wish. On the title page, write a note about the family as a whole.

Scrapbooking a single volume of memories will call for both family memories and individual memories. Theme your pages to focus on high lights of family life. Begin with Dad and Mom – the wedding, especially. You will still have a scrapbooking page for each child's birth, but there will probably be insufficient space for every "first" of every child. Try to include true highlights of each child's life. Include amusing times as well as those that were less pleasant. Include school events; sports; musical interests; birthdays; awards, graduations, and family pets.

You may still want to include your children's scrapbooking efforts as they become old enough to take part in the process. Scrapbooking family memories will give opportunity to discuss those memories, and solidify them in each one's mind.

When each child leaves home, for college attendance, to marry, etc., make a copy of the book as it is at that time, and present it as a going-away gift. Office supply stores or copy centers can copy each page in color on heavy paper or cardstock, and bind them with s durable spiral binding. Covers can be copied in color or black and white on cover stock.

Your scrapbooking gifts will vary for each child, according to when they leave home, but personal family memories of their time at home will be preserved.

4. Make a Perpetual Digital Scrapbook. If you want to scrapbook for more than 1 child with the least time involvement, you may want to consider a perpetual digital scrapbook.

Digital scrapbooking may contain hundreds, or even thousands, of pages, and yet take up no more space than a small computer CD. Digital scrapbooks allow you to add pages, even when the family is grown and dispersed.

Digital scrapbooks need never be printed. You can include individual pages of every child's "firsts" as well as all of your family photos. Throughout life, you can continue to make pages.. As each is completed, simply attach it to e-mail and send it to every family member. They can add each page to their scrapbooking CD, and continue the family album.

TIP: A digital scrapbook on a CD in a bank safe deposit box is the safest way to store your family memories. Your digital scrapbook will be safe from fire, floods, and other disasters.

How To Really Break Even In Vegas

Most of us know the ultimate goal on a Vegas vacation is to go in a casiohno , play a while, have some fun, get some comps, and go home with about what you walked in with.

Many who gamble on a regular basis no to only bring in a certain amount of money and to not mix gambling money with money that is earmarked for other things. There are a few things that those who are new to the world of gambling can do in order to avoid spending more than you intended. Anyone who has spent much time in a casino will tell you that it is easy to get your money mixed up and end up spending every dime you walked in with thinking you had more money hidden elsewhere.

That being said there is a profound difference in a casual gambler and someone that is willing and expecting to come in and make a hefty investment in the casino. These investments sometimes pay off big time for those who can afford to lose the money. They also can end up costing them big time and taking a while to recover. I recommend starting light.

Hopefully these tips will help you go home with a little money in your pocket.

1) Set a spending limit for each day and night of your stay. This sounds simple enough but it you'd be surprised at how difficult this bargain you've made with yourself can be to keep.

2) Bring only that amount of money into the casino with you and bring it in cash.

3) Lock all other ATM, Debit, and credit cards in your room safe along with any traveler's checks and other cash that you have. This prevents the temptation to get one more twenty or fifty until they are all gone. This sounds like a little bit of overkill and people often think they have plenty of self control but there is something about a casino, I swear you sometimes loose every bit of common sense you had when you walk in the door. This prevents you from getting in over your head and taking desperate measures.

4) Set a time limit for your casino fun and when that time limit is up for the evening/day get up from the table and leave the casino whether you are on the hottest winning streak of your life or not. Winning streak ultimately end at some point it is better to leave on a high note and have a little extra money to play with the next night (or better yet to take home with you). Leaving at a set time prevents you from getting over tired and making poor decisions based on the altered state of being sleep deprived.

5) Win and lose graciously. It will earn you a lot more respect from staff and the other players and you may find them wishing you luck because of your graciousness. In Vegas you can never have too much luck but woe to those whose luck has run out.

How To Read Guitar Tablature - Basics To Reading Guitar Tabs

If you do not know how to read musical notation, but lets say you want to learn how to jam the new Fall Out Boys song on your guitar.. You will first need to learn how to read guitar tablature. Don't worry though, because learning guitar tabs is very easy once you know all the basics.

Guitar Tab Basics

A standard tablature staff would look something like this:

e-------------------------------------------------
B-------------------------------------------------
G-------------------------------------------------
D-------------------------------------------------
A-------------------------------------------------
E-------------------------------------------------

When you look at this, you have to visualize that each line and letter represent each string on a guitar. Starting from the bottom to the top they are:

E – the 6th string (thickest)
A – the 5th string
D – the 4th string
G – the 3rd string
B – the 2nd string
e – the 1st string (thinnest)

Now you will see that there are numbers written into the the staff. Each number represents what fret you push down and on what string. In the following tab example , each number is lined up on the A string (5th string) one after another which tells you that they should be played one after another. The 0 means that you pluck the A string open (without pushing on the string),1 – move to the 1st fret pluck, 2 – move to the 2nd fret, 3 – move to the 3rd fret.

E-------------------------------------------------
B-------------------------------------------------
G-------------------------------------------------
D-------------------------------------------------
A-------------------------------------------------
E----0--1--2--3-----------------------------------

Chords are represented with numbers written on top of each other.
Here is what a C Major chord would look like:

E------------------------------------------------
B----1-------------------------------------------
G------------------------------------------------
D----2-------------------------------------------
A----3-------------------------------------------
E----0-------------------------------------------

You will notice that the 1st string (e) , and the 3rd string (G) have no numbers, this means that you do not strum those strings. They are in a basically just muted and not played.

The biggest disadvantage to tablature is the the fact that you are not able to accurately define how long each not should be held for. The best way to figure this out is by listening to the actual song that you are trying to play. This is actually the best way to use tabs.

Find the tab to the song you want to learn
Play that song on a radio, or your computer, or whatever means you have
Break the song into sections, starting with whatever is easiest for you
Slowly begin to put each section together
Although tablature does not give you the exact timing, they do give you some idea by spacing the numbers out. An example would look like this:

E------------------------3-------------------------
B--------------------------3-----------------------
G--------------------------------------------------
D--------------0---------------------0-------------
A------------2--------------------------2----------
E----3-------------------------------------3-------

You will also come across symbols that are use to represent certain actions.

h - hammer on    ----2h3----
p - pull off     ----3p2----
b - bend string up   ----5b7----
r - release bend   ----5b7r5----
/ - slide up     ----5/7----
\ - slide down    ----7\5----
v - vibrato (sometimes written as ~) ----3v---- or ----3~----
x - muted, struck string    ----000--xxx--000---
pm – palm mute

How To Put Your Scrapbooking Page Layouts Online

There are many reasons why you might want to put your scrapbooking page layouts online. You may just want to share your latest album project with family and friends or post a photo of a scrapbooking page onto your personal blog. If you want to be part of the online scrapbooking community, you can submit your page layout photos to a forum gallery. Finally, a photo of your scrapbooking page can be entered into online contests, competitions or a scrapping challenge.

Getting your traditional scrapbook pages into a digital form can be done with two different methods. You can either use a high-quality digital camera to photograph the page or scan the page into your computer. Either method can turn out an excellent photo of your scrapbooking page, but each has its advantages and disadvantages.

Taking a photo of your page layout with your digital camera can be a challenge. You need to carefully consider available lighting. Use natural lighting, and turn off your flash. Flash can cause reflections on photographs and shiny page elements. Go outdoors for natural light or indoors near a sunny window. For best results hang or lean your page upright to avoid distortions.

Once you have photographed your scrapbooking page, upload it to your computer. You can use any photo-editing software to make corrections before you place the photo online. You may need to save the photo in a web-friendly size and format. Most sites have guidelines for image sizes.

If you want to use a scanner to convert your scrapbooking page to a digital format, you need to consider the size limitations of your scanner. Scanners are now very affordable. However, models that accommodate 12x12 pages are usually more expensive and less available.

You can still use a standard flatbed scanner for your scrapbooking page. However, you will need to first scan a 12x12 page layout in two sections. Once you have the two pieces of your page, use an image editing software, like Photoshop, to merge the two pieces back together. It may take some trial and error to do this, but the results in the scanner are usually of higher quality than using the digital camera method. If you are using a high-quality scanner, the scanned page layout will show truer, brighter colors and sharper images overall.

Most scrapbooking pages are three dimensional and use objects that are raised on the paper. When you scan the page in a flatbed scanner, you may have shadows caused by your embellishments. You may still need to use your image editing program to correct these shadows caused during the scanning process. Scanning scrapbooking layouts takes a little practice, but once you've done it a few times, it often is quicker than the digital camera process.

Whether you choose the digital camera or the scanner method, putting your scrapbook pages into a digital format is the first step towards getting them online. Sharing your pages with others on the internet allows you to become a part of the online scrapbooking community. Look for scrapbooking forums and build your own gallery of page layouts for others to see and discuss. You may even want to enter your page layouts in scrapbooking contests or submit them for publication. There are many ways to share your scrapbooking pages online.

How To Protect Yourself When Buying Model Trains On The Internet

The internet is one of the best things that has happened to model railroading in recent years. It's never been easier to find a huge selection of trains and accessories, from anywhere in the world.

No longer do you have to wait weeks for your local train store to order something for you. Now you can just hop onto your favorite model train website or even eBay and order the exact piece you want, all within minutes.

There is a downside to the internet's reach though. You don't always know exactly what you're getting and it's easy to be fooled by an inaccurate description or misleading images.

These issues can be avoided, however, with some simple guidelines.

1. Buy from a reputable dealer
2. Buy brands and products lines that you have some experience and are familiar with
3. Ensure the website offers a good return guarantee
4. Use a credit card or some other payment method that provides you with protection in case of a problem

If you are unsure of a website's reputation, check with other people who are interested in the hobby. There are plenty of discussion groups and forums for model railroaders where plenty of people visit regularly.

Chances are good that someone has had experience with the website you're looking at - good or bad. People are generally quite happy to share their experiences, especially if they had a bad one.

If you can't find anyone who has dealt with a particular website before, it may be best to find an alternate source. They could just be new, but they could also be some kind of fly-by-night operation that may be difficult to deal with.

Most model train enthusiasts will continue to buy more equipment and accessories over time. For this reason, you will likely be developing a relationship with the vendors you like. Spending a little time to research them up front will ensure that you have a good experience and will find a vendor that you can continue to deal with for years to come.

How To Properly Set Up Your Own Drum Set

Having your own drum kit will make it easier for you to set up your own drum set. However, even without a drum kit, you will still be able to set up your drum sets by using your stool or throne as guide. When using your throne as a guide in setting up your drums, place your throne in the middle of an empty room. Sit on the throne with your drumsticks to get the feel of the height and depth which you may need in setting up your drums. Close your eyes and imagine yourself in from of your drums.

While closing your eyes and imagining yourself in front of your drum set, feel the balance of your throne. Both your feet should be planted firmly on the floor when you do this. Keep your feet on a comfortable position and then open your eyes. Check your feet and make sure that the width between your feet is more or less the same width as your shoulders. Putting your feet on a wide angle will give you a more stable and strong base. The location of your feet in very important because this will determine where you will put your pedals for your bass drum and hi hat. To make sure that your feet are comfortable where they are, try shifting your feet and experiment on different position. Do not worry, there is no hard and fast rules as to where you should put your feet when playing your drums so just go with the natural flow of your body.

Air drumming will help you gauge the possible height and reach of the drums. Play a mental tune and start drumming into the air as if you are playing your instruments in an actual concert. Pay close attention to where your hands go when you are air drumming so that you will know which way your body flow naturally. Always remember that our bodies have its own natural reflexes. By going with the natural flow of your body movements, you will be able to move more fluidly.

Setting Your Drum Set

Once you are comfortable with your position, mark the spot with chalk or any other non-permanent markers. Bring in your drums one by one and set them up one by one. Start by adding your bass drum first and then followed by your hi hat. Test your position again before you add your other instruments like the snare drum and cymbals. Every time you add another piece of instrument into your drum set, test your body movements and make sure that your movements are not restricted in anyway. If you feel that your movements are hampered in anyway, make adjustments. Always see to it that you are comfortable with what you are doing so that you can play your drums more beautifully.

How To Preserve Good Singing Voice

Good professional singers not only have to be fit and healthy to look good for stage performances, they must also know how to maintain and preserve a good singing voice.

You have only one voice and when your voice is damaged permanently, it will probably spell the end of a singer's. Many singers who have not been through professional singing coaching by good singing coaches or attend any singing schools may not even know that they may be damaging their voice.

Many singers also forget that when their singing voice does not feel right and they are not singing effortlessly as they should be, they will have a tendency to compensate with bad and un-healthy singing habits. These newly created or old bad habits may become stuck unconsciously and will have to be unlearned with the right vocal exercises. That is if the singer is aware that such habits are already in existence in the first place.

There are many things you can do to damage your singing voice and sometimes the damage will lead to permanent damage to your vocal chords. Here are some examples of what can harm your voice and there are many more.

a) Constant screaming or talking forcefully all the time. This happens very often if you are singing in a night club environment where you have to speak above the din to be heard.

Making funny voices maybe cute, but you may be doing terrible damages to your vocal folds.

b) Dry air and/or not enough water consumption will dry up your larynx and thus placing too much friction on them.

c) Poor diet, lack of sleep, stress will place more toll on your body and your singing mechanism.

d) Caffeine consumption, alcohol consumption, smoking will also damage your voice.

e) Talking, singing or whispering when you have laryngitis or sore throat. You need to rest your voice when you have a sore throat.

True professional singers must spend a lifetime working to minimize the stresses on their voices. Why should they want to destroy their singing career by being ignorant about what these bad habits can do to their singing?

What is more, if the voice is damaged because of frequent abuse and polyps grow on the larynx, they may even need to go for a surgery to remove the polyps. That will mean a of income and avoidable medical expenses. So you must preserve and maintain a healthy singing voice if you want to have a successful singing career.

How To Practice Guitar

To begin to understand how to practice the guitar for maximum benefit you must first understand what practicing is. To practice the guitar is not the same as sitting down and playing the guitar. While replaying things you already have mastered has its place later on in the practicing regime, practice is truly learning some new material to further build whatever skills you have already.

However, what if you are a new beginner to the world of playing the guitar? Where do you start if you know nothing? There are several basics that all new players must develop before they can move on to learning and perfecting sounds or songs. They are:

-Toughening your fingers. The strings on a guitar can be very sharp and can cause pain to tender fingers that have never been exposed to the pressure needed to apply to a guitar string. So working your fingers into a calloused state where the playing of anything is no longer painful is essential to beginning guitar players.

-Start to work your fingers and build your knowledge base of the guitar by starting with learning individual notes. Once the basic notes are understood, you can move on to more complicated combinations and new sounds.

-Having learned the individual notes will lead you directly into learning the chords and structures used when playing the guitar in a more advanced way. Chords tend to be the starting block for most songs out there and thus must be learned for application in differing musics.

-Developing your sense of beat or rhythm is of course essential to anyone who strives to learn a musical instrument. You have to be able to mark a beat and carry it steadily as tempos change and a song progresses.

-Learning your frets goes hand-in-hand with this and is important to chord learning as well as to song learning. You need to understand your instrument to best use it to your benefit to produce the music you desire to play.

-And of course there are different strumming methods to be learned so as to be able to effectively use them as they are called for in any formalized music. As tempos and beats speed up and slow down, different strumming methods are required and you must learn them in preparation for when they will be called into use.

Once you have begun to learn the basics in using a guitar to make music, it is often advised that a beginner look into getting a tutor. In doing this, you expose yourself to someone who is much more efficient when it comes to using the guitar and who has developed a philosophy of the music he or she creates. This is why it is important to learn a lot about a tutor you may want to hire before you begin to actually work with him or her as you want to make sure that their philosophy is as close to your own as possible, thus creating the most conducive learning environment for yourself. Philosophy is crucial in your approach to making music on the guitar and must work as well for you as it does for your tutor.

Once you have hired a tutor you are comfortable with, you will most likely be exposed to learning to read music. This may seem daunting at first but it will help you immensely as you continue your pursuit of learning the guitar as you progress to more difficult pieces and more advanced playing situations. Also, you will probably be exposed to learning the theories behind playing the guitar and behind playing music in general, all of which will only add to your ability to play more effectively as you begin to understand music more completely.

You will also be presented with a practice plan and it is important to realize that setting goals for a single session is not as productive as setting your plan for a week. Practice times are not to be etched in stone and a definite number of hours and minutes is only detrimental to the learning process. You must be dedicated enough to put in appropriate amount of time but also you must feel the music as you play, and not be distracted by clock-watching.

It is important to remember that while you may have a tutor you are paying to guide you on your exploration with the guitar, it is still necessary for you to find time to experiment and explore different ways to play. Once you have learned a few easy songs, repeating them as is does little to expand your learning . . . but trying them in a different key or improvising with them to add new sounds to the original song does, and you should find time to experiment with your growing knowledge base in your practice sessions.

Listening to a variety of different styles of music is important as you begin to play music yourself. It allows you to see a variety of ways the information you are learning is being used by professionals and semi-professionals around the world. This can also inspire you to try something new in your experimentations that perhaps you never would have contemplated before if you had not listened to differing styles of music. Soon you will begin to be able to pick out changes in chords, musical patterns, tempo, and strumming styles and recognize where they began and where they ended up.

It is also so very important to always remember as you begin your desire to practice and learn the guitar for the maximum benefit that the art of learning the guitar is not a race. Everyone will learn at their own pace, and it is not a dead-heat to the finish line. Take your time and learn every step of the way to your satisfaction and the music you end up producing will be the most satisfying sounds you ever heard emitted from the guitar you are so patiently learning to play. Practice is important if you want to learn anything but especially so in the guitar as it is much more complex an instrument to master than others.

How To Play PSP Games Online

Ever since I start playing games on my PSP, it is really great to have played so many games. And I also play online games as well on my personal computer and I start to wonder how I can play PSP games online as well. I had seen new games launched which is capable of playing online. Like playing PC games online, it gives a great sense of victory when I have beaten others online. My neighborhood is a pretty boring one with not much people I came across plays online games and not to mention knowing how to play PSP games online.

It set me on a journey to learn how to setup my personal PSP for online gaming. It's pretty simple after you have figured out how every step goes and anyone can do it within a few steps. I did the system configuration using a LINKSYS WRT54G router.

The first step, you will need to download and install KAI Download the installation file according to the type of Operating System you are using.

Once you have installed the program, you need to create XTag You need to enter your information to create this XTag that will use to identify you online.

To begin, [Start Menu] >> [All Program] >> [Xlink KAI Evolution 7], run your Kai Configuration Tool which you had just installed. From the program user interface, select Java as "Optional", you do not need it. Next, from the program, "Enable PAT" and "Lauch UI" and enter your XTag information. To finish off, uncheck "Lauch Engine"

Next, before you continue further you will need to download the LINKSYS firmware.

From your window explorer, login into your router configuration and proceed to "Administration" >> "Firmware Upgrade" and select the firmware you had previously download and click "Update". After you had updated your router firmware, login to your router configuration again and "Disable your Wireless" >> "MAC Filter". And next you continue with "Administration" >> "Management" and make sure your auto login is enabled and enter your XTag.

Continue from the same menu, "Interface" input the following;

br0 – for Xbox and PSP
eth2 – for PSP only on Linksys WRT54G 1.0 and 1.1 routers
eth1 – for PSP only on Linksys WRT56G 2.0 and 2.2 routers

Proceed to "Administration" >> "Kaid" and click start "Kaid". Next, from the "Start" menu run "XLink KAI" and proceed to "Menu" >> "Settings". From the program interface specify the IP address of your router. Once you have done that, enter the XTag information which you had previously signup.

The final step, start the connection and log-in into the PSP arena and chose your battle. From your PSP console, proceed to Multiplayer mode and host a game or join into other's game. Lastly from your router configuration window, proceed to "administrator" >> "Kaid" and click "Scan PSP".

So just follow the steps I mentioned above and you can now play games online and select you own battlegrounds to compete. Enjoy your online games as you have completed the setup. Nothing comes better than a sweet victory…

How To Play PSP Download Games

Like many others who had purchased original PSP games from the retail outlets, you will realize that as the games is completed, buying new games seem to be getting expensive and unaffordable. What else can I do if I want to continue to play new or old fashioned games on my PSP console? I start search and looking for website that offers free PSP download games.

Once I had downloaded the PSP games onto my console, how to play PSP download games was my next question. I'm not sure exactly how PSP works when I download new PSP games onto the unit, but I sure have found some answers while I was looking for it. Since I'm facing and struggling with this problem on how to play PSP download games on my unit, lots of other people must be also getting the same problem.

Hope that I get this right for everyone to play PSP download games because I used the same method here to play on my console. Before we get started, I'm using a PSP unit with firmware of 1.5 and having a Sony PSP
compatible memory stick pro duo.

Since you are going to download the PSP games, you must download the games for the correct version of firmware, if not it will not work. Newer version of the firmware is available to anyone from the PSP official website. Most homebrew PSP games works with firmware 1.5 and below because the newer firmware upgrade is trying to block people from using homebrew games. Make sure the games you are downloading ends with PSP because only PSP files are compatible with Sony PSP unit.

And for firmware upgrade at anytime, you may need to download a newer version of the games to be compatible with the firmware. Otherwise error messages like "The data is corrupted" or "The game would not be started" will display on your PSP screen.

Once the PSP games are downloaded, connect the PSP to your computer by using the USB cable that comes with the PSP console. Change your PSP console into PSP mode by pressing the "Home" button. Next scroll left to the "Setting" column and scroll down until "USB Connection". Press "X" button to enter PSP into USB mode.

To download the PSP games into your console, the games must be copied and downloaded onto the correct folder in order for the games to work. And the correct path is PSP > GAME in order for the any PSP games to work correctly. If the "PSP" and "GAME" folder does not exist on your PSP memory stick, you need to manually create the folder with folder name in ALL CAPS.

Once you have finished downloading or transferring the games onto the PSP memory stick, you can disconnect your PSP from the computer. From the PSP console main menu, scroll over to the "GAME" column on your Sony PSP and continue to scroll down on the memory stick. Press "X" and a list of game files will be displayed. Scroll downward and you will be able to see the games you have just installed.

Press "X" again to confirm your selection and play the PSP games. I had tried to practice the steps above many times in my PSP and it worked all the time. Hopefully it will also work for your console too.

How To Play An Insane Guitar Solo

What's the most insane guitar solo you've ever heard? One by Paul Gilbert? Yngwie? Eddie Van Halen?

If you're going to play an insane solo like the guitar heroes, here's what you need to start getting good at. These guys didn't learn this stuff over night! Let's get that straight up front. Shredding, especially shredding not just up and down scales, takes years to master. Not just that, but these guitar gurus are always pushing their own playing to the limit in their recordings. You can imagine the difficult road you have ahead of you.

32nd Note Legato Runs

At some point during the insane solo, most of our favorite guitarists will play abnormally fast, 32nd note legato runs. This will be the fastest, most impressive point to the "lay person." We guitarists know shredding is much harder, although slower.

It's important to develop legato techniques (all hammer-ons and pull-offs) along your 3-note-per-string scales and Pentatonic Scales. You'll want to skip strings, do amazing finger stretches, and of course, full neck legato runs. Listen to Joe Satriani in particular and you'll hear all kinds of crazy legato sequences.

Finger Tapping

For the most insane solo, add finger tapping, as pioneered by Eddie Van Halen, though brought to a whole new level today. There's 2, 4, 6, and even 8-finger finger tapping. For the most dramatic effect, learn 8-finger finger tapping and not just on the upper register, more like the middle register and upper register combined. Be sure to tap arpeggios as well as be inventive in your note choice. The greatest taps are created with "worldly sound" in mind in my opinion.

Shredding

Get your metronome and start increasing your speed until you can play 16th notes at roughly 200 beats per second. The insane guitarists don't only shred up and down scales at this speed, but also sweep arpeggios and Pentatonics at this speed. Get a book that teaches you all of the arpeggios, not just diad.

Tetrachords

Throw in tetrachord runs. Tetrachords require intense finger stretching. These are essentially 4-note-per-string diatonic scales. Type "tetrachords" into a Google search and there you'll find what you're looking for. Charles Gacsi at WholeNote has a great lesson on the theory behind tetrachords.

Guitar Face

As if it weren't enough just to play an insane solo technically... You need to develop a guitar face worthy of the masters. No simple facial expression will do. You must practice this in the mirror, coming up with an original guitar face.

Tension and Release

Don't be afraid to go outside your comfort zone and experiment. Even by hitting "the wrong notes" you're doing something right. You're creating tension. Use Chromatics to create tension or rip some notes off a bizarre scale for tension. Because it will be released to create a great feeling of contrast in your listener once you begin playing in key again. For the best release, only a simple melody will do. A simple melody repeated on and off within your insane solo will make it a memorable one.

How To Pick The Best Casino Affiliate Program

In the online casino affiliate world, there have been many changes due to recent regulations of the online gaming industry. Online Casino affiliates have been hit hard by the change in the US regulations. Many affiliate programs have abandoned their affiliates leaving most of the affiliates startled and stunned as they see their hard work go down the drain. With the current regulations, I'd suggest keeping these in mind when looking around for an online casino affiliate program:

1. Choose an affiliate program in your niche of interest. If you like casinos then choose a casino affiliate program. If your nuts about poker then focus on generating poker content. Chances are you will be more motivated to generate content in your niche of interest. The more interested you are the better chances of success you will have.

2. Look for a casino affiliate program that is of the highest quality. You'll need accurate and real time stats so you can see which programs are generating the highest conversions based on your traffic. If you're not sure as to which ones have the best traffic then go to some of the more prominent casino and poker forms to see which ones are being promoted.

3. Join one that offer the best player retention for your referred players. The amount of work required to acquire a client is enormous so you will need a casino affiliate program that will be able to actively retain your clients. Keeping them playing, and keeping them happy through player incentives is important. Bonuses and incentives for VIP casino players will help retain your clients.

4. Pick one that is catering to a growing casino market. Make sure that your casino affiliate program is up to date with the casinos that they promote. Like all other businesses casinos and poker rooms have ever changing user interface and functionality. Pick one that offers fresh up to date excitement. Don't pick one that looks like it was designed for the year 2000.

5. An affiliate casino program with a compensation plan that pays out a residual income and a payout of 35% or more would be a realistic choice. Do not waste your time with programs that only offer a CPA (cost per acquisition). If you do you'll miss out on substantial continual profit. The residual income makes up for the occasional player who only deposits $10 or $20.

6. be aware of the casino affiliates Terms of Service. There are some casinos that use predatory language in their TOS' statement. Be sure to Read it carefully.

7. Select one that has plenty of banners and other creatives that can help you grow your online casino portal business in the shortest possible time. Not all affiliate casino programs the same type of resources, so choose wisely.

Have a thorough understanding if the casino affiliate program you will be spending your valuable time promoting.

How To Pick Digital Photography Classes

So the owners manual isn't doing everything you need to do, or you're simply tired of getting multiple pieces of advice from so-called amateur photographers who really don't know what it is they're talking about. If this sounds like something you're dealing with or simply want to be inspired, then maybe a Digital Photography class is the thing for you!

Today individuals such as yourself have some options in how to pursue this option. One of which is taking a course at a local community college. After taking one myself, I must tell you that I learned a great deal from the class, and I can only stress to you that the material is something that stays with you for quite a while. But you really don't want to hear my opinion, you need to know about what you need to do to get to a good class.

The first thing you need to make sure of is that the school/community college you're attending is an accredited school. This means that the school is legitimate. I have seen WAY too many advertisements on the Internet and in local newspapers for Digital Photography classes only to find out that this is just some guy or girl teaching out of their apartments. C'mon!

By going to an accredited university you are ensured that you will be getting your money's worth, and that the class will be taught be someone competent and who went through an enormous amount of education that they are now passing along to you!

Some of you may have more options than others depending on where you live. If there are several schools in your area I highly recommend investigating the following; 1) Go over the course outline; by looking over the subject matter in the digital photography course, you will be able to check out which classes are suitable for your skill level. Some classes teach just the basics like how to work your camera. So if you're well passed that, why not take on something a little more challenging?

2) See if there are any interesting aspects to your class. Does the class teach nothing but black and white photography? Will you be out and about in nature trying to photograph birds at six in the morning? Some of this may interest you and it also might give you a headache.

3) Inside and Outside Work; Let's face it. Photography is all around us and it occurs inside and outside of home. Make sure your class teaches proper use of inside and outside photography. Trust me when I say that there is a world of difference!

I hope this information has been informative for you. Hears to some great future pictures!

How To Pick A Guitar

When you play a guitar, you will have to know how to pick a guitar and these are some of them.

There is the standard style of picking a guitar. The standard style is holding the pick between the flat of the thumb and the side of the index finger with your fingers either anchored on or draped across the pick guard.

This style does have some disadvantages. You will find that pressing the thumb against the side of the finger to be an uncomfortable position. You will also find that if you don't press hard enough, the pick will become unsteady when you pick the string. You will find that the pick will catch on the strings.

There is a variation of the standard style where the remaining fingers are in a loose or tight fist. There should be no contact between the hand and the guitar except through the pick. The advantage of this standard style variation is that you should have less baggage to swing around. This is because the mass of the fingers are closer to the axis of the wrist.

The main disadvantage of this variation is that even in the greatest of players, they were inconsistent in the accuracy of their playing. They kept on losing on losing their point of reference of fingers that were touching the pick guard.

Another variation of the standard style is that the palm rests flat on the bridge, either behind or in front, depending whether the strings need muting or not. You can have other fingers open or closed.

This standard style variation is perfect for electric guitar players who usually deal with feedback that they don't want.

The problem with this variation is that you have to play with a side to side motion rather than at the wrist. This will eventually lead to having a locked wrist and you will not be able to play faster.

There is another variation of standard style. When you play using this variation, you have the thumb side of your palm raised with the opposite side of your palm resting on the bridge. The only difference between this variation and the regular standard style is the hand location.

Another variation of the standard style is called circle picking. You hold the pick the same way as the standard style. You move by flexing the first joint of the thumb, with the index finger extending at its second joint. You slide the pick along the string before crossing it, turning counterclockwise on down strokes and clockwise on upstrokes. This essentially means that you are making a circular motion to play the strings and the reason that it is called circle picking.

The main advantage is that you can play several strings with no arm or wrist motion at all. The tones sound nice when using this style. It is a fun way to play if you don't mind looking weird.

The main problem with this picking style is that your feel will suffer. You will constantly have to will yourself to control your timing. It is hard to do large strokes like strumming. You will find eventually that the extra motion of the thumb and index finger are inefficient and limit speed.

George Benson has a unique picking style. When you want to use the pick like George Benson, you put the pick between the tip of the thumb and the flat of the index finger. The middle finger should rest against the index finger. The first joint of the thumb should be locked in a fully open position. You should the first and second joints of the index finger arched and locked. You should find that the pick is 90 degrees counterclockwise from the standard style.

How To Palm Coins

Coin tricks are one of the most respected and entertaining forms of magic. So if you want to perform professional looking coin tricks it's vital to develop the ability to palm objects.

Palming is a technique that allows you to hold or conceal an object in your hand. As the name suggests it involves hiding the object (for example, a coin) in the palm of your hand, although other versions of palming involve the use of your fingers or thumb.

When done skillfully, you should be able to palm a coin while conveying the impression that your hand is empty. Top magicians continue the illusion by maintaining unnatural hand positions with both hands so that the hand used to palm the object in question looks less noticeable.

There are three main palming techniques that can be used to conceal coins.

1) The Classic Palm: This is the most common method and involves holding a coin between the muscle at the base of the thumb and the fleshy part on the edge of the hand. The coin is kept in place using a small amount of lateral pressure. Ideally, you should use just enough pressure to keep the coin in place when your palm is facing down. Any more pressure will make your hand look unnatural and defeat the purpose of the palming technique. With practice you'll soon know the right amount of pressure to use.

When practising this technique there's a natural tendency to hold your thumb further away from your fingers in order to increase the amount of grip that you can apply to the hidden object. If possible, try to resist this temptation as it can give people a clue that your hand isn't as empty as you might like them to believe.

Try practising in front of a mirror until you can use the classic palm technique to hide coins of all shapes and weights in a natrual manner.

And when you start practising, it's a good idea to use the largest, yet lightest coin that you can find. For example, the American half dollar is a perfect size for practising and the fact that is has a strongly milled edge provides more grip. In contrast, smaller and heavier objects take more skill to palm naturally.

2) The Finger Palm: This is a slightly easier way to conceal a coin. From being displayed at the end of all five fingertips, the coin is released and slips down inside the hand to the crease in the skin where your fingers meet the palm of your hand. This allows you to hold the coin securely using a natural looking hand position. It also has the benefit that your hand can be viewed from a wide range of angles without revealing the coin.

Often magicians reinforce this technique by combining it with misdirection or picking up another object. This further reinforces the idea that their hand is empty.

3) The Back Palm: This method of palming is used to conceal a coin behind your hand, while showing your audience that the palm of your hand is empty. It's also the technique that magicians use when they pretend to pluck a coin out of the air or from behind a person's ear. In most cases the coin is gripped between the pinkey and the finger next to it. The other fingers and the thumb are then used to conceal the coin.

How To Memorize A Song The Easy Way

Do you always need to have the sheet music to play a song? Do you wish you could sit down at the piano and just play like your favorite performers do?

Well, you are not alone. Most pianists feel the same way as you do.

But don't give up just yet:

There is an easy way for you to conquer this problem, and it's guaranteed to work.

The 3 x 5 Method

Part 1: Creating Your Tool In 5 Simple Steps:

All you need is a 3 x 5 index card to get started.

1. Mark off 4 empty measures evenly spaced across your index card (from left to right)

2. Place the chords for each measure between the bar lines.

3. Continue doing this for the entire song: always staying with 4 measures per line.

4. Use repeat signs as well as 1st and 2nd endings to save space as well as to simplify.

5. If the song has a bridge (middle section), draw a horizontal line below the verses and then place the chords in the same way as you did for the other measures.

Note: Many songs have 3rd verses that are the same or nearly the same as the 2nd.
No need to write these chords on the card.

Part 2: Using Your Index Card as Your Ticket to Success

1. Put the index card on the piano and play the chords with your left hand in time (slowly) as you look at them on the card instead of on the sheet music.

2. Next, focus exclusively on the first 4 measures. Look at the index card as you play the chords with your left hand and the melody with the right hand. You will surprise yourself at how easily you'll be able to play the melody without music after a few minutes.

3. Repeat step #2 without the index card this time. Even if you need to refer to the card a couple of times, you'll be amazed at how quickly you'll be able to memorize this section.

4. Every time you practice, review the part of the song that you have already memorized. Once you can play this with confidence, follow the same process to memorize more of the song—always concentrate on 4 measure sections.

5. Carry your index card with you in your pocket or purse at all times. Anytime that you have a free moment—standing in line at the grocery store, sitting traffic, waiting for your meal to be served—pull out the card and review the names of the chords in order.
Remember to focus on 4 measure sections before moving ahead.

Part 3: Free at Last

1. Once you have the first song memorized, play your newly memorized song on as many pianos and keyboards as possible. You may need to refer to the index card occasionally. That's okay. You'll still be building up your confidence.

2. Start working on another song and follow this same method. This will actually help you play your first memorized song better, because you're now developing this habit.

3. Set a goal such as: "I play 5 songs beautifully and confidently from memory by…pick a date." Review this goal 2 or 3 times every day.

4. Use visualization to help you: picture yourself playing the piano effortlessly a concert stage, as the center of attention at a party or just sitting in your living room alone.

The instrument is clear of all traces of music, and you are smiling from ear to ear.

5. Listen to recordings of your memorized song by great performers to inspire you.

Action Exercises

Here are three things you can do immediately to put these ideas into action.

First, spend part of your daily practice sessions working on your songs to be memorized. Your investment of a few minutes every day will yield powerful results.

Second, copy the chords onto an index card for each song you want to memorize. The act of writing alone helps to imprint the chords into your memory.

Third, review the chords on your 3 x 5 card every time you have a free moment. Your time away from the piano will become a turbo charger for your time at the piano.

How To Maximize Your Online Casino Bonus: A Case Study

Do you want to know how to take the maximum advantage of the bonuses and promotions that the different online casinos offer? WagerX.com spills the secrets of exactly how you can do it! A case study released by WagerX.com showed the following scenario that utilizes the optimal strategy to leverage your casino deposit to your advantage. This technique will work on ALL online casinos not just WagerX.com. This is what happened with an "ideal" client in this case study:

1. He fully read the casino bonuses and promotions page. This sounds like common sense, but it's important to read the fine print. Many casinos offer a special terms of Service page for each individual casino bouns. Casinos make their money by "giving" you a promotional bonus and requiring you to gamble for just long enough so that in theory you lose your initial deposit and the bonus amount. This requirement is called the "play through requirement". Knowing the play through requirement and the odds of the game you are going to play are important. Because if you can find a casino that offers a low play through requirement and high enough bonus you could (in theory) make money for as long as your eligible for the bonus.

2. He emailed us and made sure that bonuses applied at other CWC platforms did not deny him a bonus at WagerX.com. In the case of other casinos, you have to be careful because there are "sister" casino sites that operate under the same business platform. When this is the case, you may not be eligible for the bonus if you were granted a bonus on their other "sister" casino site. Always email their customer service department. They will tell you. If they don't then don't play there. Also, if their customer service takes too long to get with you then don't play there. Acceptable waiting times vary between individual. In my case I'm not willing to wait more that 24 hours for customer service to get back with me. In the case of WagerX.com you are eligible for ALL of our bonuses regardless if you currently are a player at another CWC Gaming based casinos. Many CWC based casinos are taking different stands on if they allow US players to gamble on their sites. You will have to check with each one yourself.

3. He analyzed the casino bonuses one by one and maximized his starting position. Almost all of the casinos offer an initial deposit bonus. Some even offer a second and third deposit bonus. On all of these promotions there are limits as to how much they allow as a bonus. In this case study the client played on all three deposit bonuses. First Deposit: 100% up to $150. Needless to say his first casino deposit was $150 (via Neteller) Second Deposit: 50% up to $150. His second deposit was $300 (via Neteller) giving him a bonus of $150. Again, he maximized his bonus allotment. Third Deposit: 75% up to $75. He deposited $100 (via Neteller) for a $75 bonus. In addition to the deposit bounses there was a Neteller deposit bouns. Neteller Deposit Bonus: Neteller bonus is a fixed 10% on all Neteller deposits. His total deposit was $550. So his bonus was $55.

8. He emailed again confirming his "play through requirements" and the terms and conditions of the wagering requirements for them to be considered "fair gaming". In addition to the play rhough requirement there are requirements for the maximum allowable bet per hand. In his case we averaged all three deposits and his maximum bet is $46 per hand.

If you did the same you'd have deposited $550 via Neteller $550, and have a total balance of $980. (PLUS another $50 in value for the Bentley Key Code.
Cash Balance:  $550.00
Bonus Balance:  $430.00
Total Balance: $980.00 (Almost doubled your money from the start)

Now with a low enough play though requirement and a casino game that's not rigged more than the house advantage you may just make the play through requirement and keep the bonus that's left over. One example is baccarat which has one of the best player advantages. Good luck on your online casino adventures!
